Farmer’s Market on Aug 20th

Outreach Event at SLO Thursday Night Farmer’s Market

CCAS will be back at Farmers’ Market for sidewalk astronomy outreach, and we need help from our volunteers!

No experience is required to volunteer. These events are fun, casual, and a great way to introduce astronomy to people who may never have attended a star party before. Come help welcome the public, answer simple questions, manage telescope lines, or just be a friendly CCAS presence downtown! If you’re planning to bring a telescope, please let us know so we can be sure to have enough space for your setup.

How CCAS Members Can Help

CCAS is growing in public outreach, member education, youth programming, and community partnerships, and Farmer’s Market is one way we’re getting more visible to the community.

If you are bringing telescope equipment, load-in time is 5:00pm, and you’ll need to park off-site after unloading your equipment. (Break down starts at 9pm.)

For volunteers without telescopes, please arrive by 5:30pm to help our team get settled in. We’ll be at the corner of Broad & Higuera.

If you don’t have a telescope, you can help by:

  • Welcoming guests
  • Handing out flyers and star charts
  • Helping answer basic questions about CCAS
  • Setup (5-5:30pm) and breakdown (9pm) for the event
  • Sharing your observing or astrophotography skills

CCAS is building an astronomy community, a place where people can discover the night sky, grow in skill and confidence, and connect with others who love exploring the universe. If one of these opportunities catches your interest, please click to sign up to receive more information about getting involved and watch the CCAS website for details.

Together, we can help build the next chapter of Central Coast Astronomy!
