Volunteer with CCAS

Help Share the Night Sky

The Central Coast Astronomical Society is a volunteer-run organization. Our public events, stargazing nights, and educational programs are made possible by people who enjoy sharing astronomy with others.

You don’t need to be an expert — just curious, friendly, and willing to help.

How Volunteers Help

Volunteers support CCAS in a variety of simple, flexible ways, including:

  • Welcoming visitors at public stargazing events
  • Assisting with telescope setup and breakdown
  • Helping answer basic questions from first-time observers
  • Supporting public talks and community events

Some volunteers are experienced astronomers. Others are just getting started. All are welcome.

No Fixed Commitments

CCAS does not require a regular schedule or long-term commitment.

  • Help once or occasionally
  • Choose activities that fit your availability
  • Learn as you go, with support from experienced members

We share volunteer opportunities with our members as they arise.

Interested in Helping?

If you’d like to help support CCAS events or community outreach, please contact us and let us know a little about your interests and availability. We’ll share your note with our volunteer astronomers and be in touch if there’s a good match.
